Packers place DL Wilkerson on IR, activate CB Brown
The Green Bay Packers have placed defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson on injured reserve and signed cornerback Tony Brown to the active roster, the team announced Saturday.
Wilkerson, 28, suffered a season-ending ankle injury in Green Bay’s Week 3 loss at Washington. He signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Packers in March after spending his first seven seasons with the New York Jets.
Wilkerson had five tackles in two-plus games this year. He played in 105 games and recorded 44.5 sacks with the Jets, including a career high 12.5 during his Pro Bowl season in 2015.
Brown, an undrafted rookie from Alabama, joined the Packers’ practice squad on Sept. 3 after originally signing with the Los Angeles Chargers. He played four seasons for the Crimson Tide, posting 89 tackles and three interceptions in 51 games.
Green Bay also signed second-year defensive lineman Deon Simon to the practice squad. He was a seventh-round pick of the Jets in 2015 and appeared in 16 games for New York in 2016.
