Paddy Power has challenged England fans to a penalty shootout to win a ‘trip of a lifetime’ to Euro 2024 this summer.

The Three Lions are preparing for another shot at glory in Germany after losing the Euro 2020 final on penalties to Italy three years ago, with Gareth Southgate naming his provisional 33-man squad for the tournament last week.

Southgate’s side have been drawn in a group with Serbia, Slovenia and Denmark and they are one of the favourites to go all the way.

England will be backed by thousands of travelling fans in Germany and Paddy Power are offering the chance for more to join them.

On Monday, they unveiled a first look at Paddy Fairlines, which promises to put ‘the fair into air travel for England football fans’.

It’s offering five lucky fans the chance to win a spot on a private jet which will fly to Dusseldorf for England’s opening group stage clash against Serbia on June 16, with each individual allowed to bring three friends along.

However, to win a spot on the plane, potential travellers must banish English ghosts of penalty shootouts and score a spot kick to earn their place.

Fans who want to push their case have been invited to Leyton Orient’s Brisbane Road on June 8, where they can shoot their shot.

Some well-known England players of the past are also expected to be in attendance in the hope of redeeming their reputation at the second occasion.

Paddy Power will then whittle down all the entrants to the five best penalty takers who will be chosen for the trip, with £5,000 worth of prize money up for grabs too.

‘As we hurtle towards the Euros, England remain firm favourites to win the 2024 tournament outright,’ Rachael Kane, spokesperson for Paddy Power said.

‘If they succeed it will be their first major tournament win since the 1966 World Cup.

‘But they’ve lost seven out of nine penalty shootouts in major tournament finals. So, it feels only fitting that we put our potential passengers through their paces if they want to land a spot on Paddy’s exclusive jet. It doesn’t get fairer than that.’

‘We’re kicking off the Euros party a couple of weeks early to find England’s greatest penalty takers,’ Paddy Power added.

‘Once we’ve found them and sent footage of their technique straight to St. George’s Park so Southgate and Co. can take notes, we’ll bring our lucky winners on a trip of a lifetime to Gelsenkirchen which we’re reliably informed is somewhere near Dusseldorf.’

Entrants must be over 18 and can register in advance for the challenge via www.paddypowershootout.com.
