The Playboy Playmate opened up about the inspiration behind her new cookbook during an appearance on Stephen Colbert’s late night talk show.

She said her sons Brandon Thomas Lee, 28, and Dylan Jagger Lee, 26, urged her to share her recipes with the world.

The blonde beauty shares her beloved sons with her ex-husband, 62-year-old Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.

When her sons moved out and into their first homes she gifted them with a box of recipes engraved with I love you as a housewarming gift.

Her sons immediately recognized the potential their mom’s gift had and told her they were pitching it to a publisher.

During the interview, Anderson also admitted she loves to bake and she gave her sourdough starter a name: Astrid.

She said the sourdough starter is named after the ‘Viking warrior princess’ and is a  ‘bubbly’ and ‘strong’ worker.

Anderson, who is an avid animal activist, was initially driven to vegetarianism — which later turned to veganism — at a young age, admitting it was spurred by her father’s hunting during an interview with the Washington Post.

She recalled coming across a decapitated deer hanging up after one of her father’s hunting trips and realizing, in horror, what is actually was.

‘When I realized that was meat, I thought, “I can’t do that,”‘ she shared.

She added that though her book is vegan, she sees it more as a ‘celebration’ of her love of cooking, her garden and vegetables.

‘I also don’t judge other people for how they’re eating, and that’s why I didn’t really want this to be a typical vegan cookbook, so it gets pushed down to the vegan section of the cookbooks,’ Anderson said.

‘I just kind of want it to be a celebration of my garden and vegetables. It just doesn’t leave anybody out that way.’
