Designer Pamella Roland kicked off Fashion Week last night with an opulent affair at Pier 59 studios in New York City. The inspiration behind the show was a recent family trip to the Grand Prix of Monaco.
‘It was so beautiful, the flowers were out, the blues of the ocean were breathtaking. It’s a gorgeous city and it served as the perfect inspiration. I took a ton of pictures. The backdrop was perfect for what we do,’ she told FEMAIL before the show.
Pamella said she designed the collection based on feedback from her clientele. ‘Our customer wants ball gowns, especially customers from overseas. They’re asking for opulence (i.e feathers and beading).’
‘This collection is about what the customer wants. There’s been an upswing on high-end and people wanting more,’ she added.

With feather-adorned cocktail dresses and crystal-embellished ball gowns floating down the catwalk, it was easy to see influences from the gorgeous, upscale locale.
While the ornate fashions that walked the runways look heavy and restricting, Pamella explained she only designs pieces that will keep you comfortable all night long.
‘They may not look it, but they are actually very comfortable,’ she said. ‘We use the best fabrics and make sure that our dresses are easy to get in and out of.’
The dazzling dresses that Pamella presented are sure to make anyone stand out in a crowd, but the designer said it’s all about how they make you feel. ‘I think when people wear my dresses, they feel good about themselves. I design for all ages and all types of women.’
