The Panera Bread restaurant chain fired an employee from one of its Atlanta area locations after a customer received a receipt with the words ‘stupid b***h’ written on it, it was reported on Friday.
The incident occurred at a Panera Bread location in the North Druid Hills section of DeKalb County, Georgia, according to WSB-TV.
Karensa Harris completed a purchase at the restaurant, where she stopped along the way before picking up her young son.
After asking the staff to replace her salad, Harris was given a replacement as well as a receipt.
She looked at the receipt and noticed that a slur was printed on it referring to her as a ‘stupid b***h’.

Harris says that if she did not post the receipt on social media, the company would likely not have taken action
‘At Panera, we have a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of behavior and the associate has been terminated as a result of this situation,’ a Panera Bread spokesperson said in a statement
‘I was floored. What are your morals? What does Panera Bread stand for?’ Harris said.
When she went to the manager, she says the manager would talk to the cashier and that he offered to bring her another salad.
At that point, Harris stormed out of the restaurant.
She then called Panera’s corporate office.
‘The response that I got from them just didn’t feel like they felt like it was a big deal,’ she said.
Harris posted a picture of the receipt on Facebook.

‘This is what happens when you ask the cashier to swap out the strawberries for watermelon on your salad at Panera Bread on North Druid Hills,’ she wrote in the Facebook post.
‘I am at a loss for words. Even better, when I called the corporate office they had the audacity to tell me that they need to look into retraining opportunities for the cashier.
‘Really!!!!! Maybe it’s just me but this is beyond retraining. Thoughts? Panera Bread’
The company responded with its own Facebook post.
‘At Panera, we have a zero-tolerance policy for this kind of behavior and the associate has been terminated as a result of this situation,’ a Panera Bread spokesperson said in a statement.
‘We are focused on fostering a warm and welcoming environment for everyone, and this incident is not indicative of the way that we treat our guests.’
Harris says that if she did not post the receipt on social media, the company would likely not have taken action.
‘I feel like if I didn’t use social media as my platform. I don’t feel like I would have been heard,’ she said.
She also said she would not be going back to dine at Panera.
