Mr Thomas said ‘it was a feeling of disbelief’ which ‘turned into anger’ that this was happening in his neighbourhood, 9NEWS reported.

Mr Thomas said he normally gets his parcels delivered to his house and it was the first incident where someone had stolen the package.

He also said, ‘I won’t be sending anything of real value to the house.’

Mr Thomas believes the alleged thief followed the courier.

The footage has been handed over to police, but the woman still hasn’t been caught.

Police say they normally don’t keep data on parcel theft and it’s usual for thieves to steal parcels by following delivery vans.

It’s recommended by Australia Post that parcels should be delivered to a secure locker or the local post office.

If the parcel is left behind without a signature, nothing can be done other than informing the police.
