- Parents allegedly left tiny three-month-old baby in car while shopping for bikes
- A passerby said the child was wrapped in a blanket and no windows were open
- Staff at Liverpool’s Toys R Us tried tracking the parents down over the PA system
- By the time police arrived at the scene the couple were already back at the car
Police were called to a Toys R Us car park after a tiny baby was spotted alone in a car while the parents shopped for new bikes.
Passersby Clare Murray saw the infant — believed to be around three-months old — wrapped in a blanket inside the car
Police attended the Toys R Us’ Liverpool branch car park, where they offered the parents ‘advice’.
Ms Murray, who shared details of the incident on Tuesday, described her ‘shock’ and ‘disgust’.

‘I would never normally put anything like this on social media but I’m in that much shock, utter disgust and actually can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed,’ she wrote.
‘I’ve just been shopping in Toys R Us and as I’m loading the boot of my car, I seen movement out of the corner of my eye from the car parked next to me.
‘When I looked there was no one in the car apart from a rear facing car seat which had a yellow blanket draped over it.’
They added that all the car’s windows and doors closed and that she could hear ‘screams from the baby’.
In a bid to track down the parents, staff at Toys R Us made an announcement over the store’s PA system — but they were reportedly unable to locate them.
The Facebook user said they were able to find the parents, who were said to be browsing bikes at the time.
However, they had returned to the car by the time police arrive at the scene.
The Facebook post sparked outrage among users and was shared more than 600 times.

One user wrote: ‘Omg, why would anyone think that its OK to leave a baby in a car, not to mention covering it up with a blanket?’
Another commented: ‘That’s gave me goosebumps what a absolute disgrace’.
A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed officers attended the car park on Tuesday over concern for a baby’s safety.
They added that the child was unharmed and details of the incident were shared with ‘relevant partner agencies’.
