Aussie parents are slammed for throwing a very extravagant birthday party for their one-year-old – complete with belly dancers, a car and pyrotechnics: ‘It’s like a wedding’
- Extravagant first birthday slammed
- Commentators said it’s ‘for the parents’
A couple has been slammed for throwing a ‘lavish’ wedding-like party for their daughter’s first birthday, with critics saying it’s a waste of money as the one-year-old will ‘never remember it’.
Baby Kaira’s first birthday came complete with extravagant balloon arches, professional dancers, a mini car for her to ride around in, pyrotechnics, and multiple performers.
Guests were also able to enjoy a luxurious spread of food, a three-tier cake, luscious flower displays, sparklers, performances by belly dancers and a professional photo booth.
The parents opted for wedding-like outfits with Kaira’s mother in a white, floor length bridal-inspired gown and her father in a three-piece suit.
But many have said the Sydney party was ‘too much’ for a one-year-old, with some accusing the parents of ‘making the party about themselves’.
The party was planned by Paradiso Receptions, who primarily plan and cater weddings.
After the group shared a video of the a party to TikTok, many were shocked by the opulence for a baby’s celebration.
‘At this point it’s your birthday,’ one person wrote.
‘This is ten times bigger than my wedding will be,’ said another.

‘This isn’t a birthday, it’s a whole wedding,’ commented a third.
Others were more supportive of the celebration, saying they would throw similar parties if they had the money.
‘It’s there first child probably and they’re really excited she’s growing up and want to give her a good childhood,’ said one.
‘Wow, to be rich,’ commented another.
‘If I was this rich I’d so make their special days like this,’ wrote one.
‘I’m glad she has parents like you guys. Hopefully she will grow with good health and wealth. May she be as blessed as you are,’ wrote one.
Many commented saying the little one would ‘never remember the celebration’ while others made comparisons to their own birthdays.
‘My parents got me a Coles Mudcake,’ one person wrote.
‘I got a muffin and one candle,’ said one.
