Paris Saint-Germain have the second WORST defence in Europe’s top five leagues since April as their slump continues and they concede three in defeat to Montpellier
- Paris Saint-Germain have endured a poor end to their season despite Ligue 1 win
- PSG may have won the league but they have been incredibly poor in defence
- Only Huddersfield conceded more in the month of April in Europe’s top leagues
Dumped out of the Champions League, beaten in the French Cup final, making winning the league difficult and now it turns out Paris Saint-Germain have the second-worst defence in Europe’s top five divisions since April.
It may be a little harsh to comment on a defence that has had little to play for in the league for quite some time given how secure the title has been, but it’s worth recording.
Only Huddersfield conceded more in the month of April than PSG. The first side to be relegated from the Premier League this season, Huddersfield conceded 15 goals last month.
Paris Saint-Germain boss Thomas Tuchel has been critical of his players recently
PSG conceded 14 goals in a month in which they lost three leagues but were able to celebrate winning the title after a 3-1 win over Monaco.
Freiburg, who have lost their last four games, shipped 13 goals while Real Betis, who have let in 13.
PSG boss Thomas Tuchel has been honest enough in his assessment of his side this season.
A 3-2 defeat away at Montpellier was their third loss in April and capped a disappointing month
Tuchel believes his players have ‘slackened off’ as the season has drawn to a close.
He said: ‘It’s something we’ve seen for a number of years, that the team loses intensity at the end of the season.
‘It’s something I can understand, but it’s not something I want to accept.’
