Parliament House rape accuser Brittany Higgins lands $250,000 book deal about her time in Canberra 

Rape accuser Brittany Higgins has vowed to reveal more explosive claims about Parliament House after securing a lucrative book deal.

The former Liberal Party staffer, 26, made national headlines in February when she broke her silence about being allegedly raped by a male colleague in federal defence minister Linda Reynolds’ Parliament House office in 2019.

Ms Higgins has signed a $250,000 deal to write a memoir with publishers Penguin Random House Australia after a three-way bidding war involving Allen & Unwin and Hachette.

‘I feel privileged to be afforded the opportunity to share my experience inside Parliament House with readers,’ Ms Higgins said in a statement on Tuesday.

‘This book will shine a light on the toxic workplace culture inside the corridors of power and provide a firsthand account of what it was like surviving a media storm that turned into a movement.’

Ms Higgins later tweeted that half of the royalties  from each book sold will be donated to the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre who were a lifeline for her following her alleged ordeal.

‘This book will shine a light on the culture inside the corridors of power and provide a firsthand account of what it was like surviving a media storm that turned into a movement,’ she added.

Ms Higgins has began writing the book, which is due to be on the shelves in 2022.

Industry insiders told the Sydney Morning Herald timing was a major factor in Ms Higgins’ decision to sign with Penguin Random House.

It’s understood Ms Higgins wasn’t keen on rushing to get the memoir done in the coming months to make into store in time for Christmas.

The publisher described Ms Higgins’ untitled memoir as ‘her story in her own words’.
