Parsons Green terror suspect rowed with Londis shopkeeper

The teenager arrested on suspicion of planting the Parsons Green tube bomb was involved in a heated row with a shopkeeper over his Oyster card, it was revealed today.

The 18-year-old was infuriated and swore in Arabic at staff in a Londis outlet close to the home where he stayed while under foster care.

Detectives have been told by shop workers that it was the same youth who swore at them presented to them in photographs yesterday.

They identified him and told officers they believed that it was the same person.

In the pictures, the teenager was wearing an identical beanie hat to that of the suspected bomber seen in CCTV pictures since the failed attack of Friday.

One member of the shop staff, Areky, told MailOnline: ‘He got angry because his Oyster card was in minus figures by a penny.

‘He swore at us and left the shop but came back later and put £3 on his Oyster card and he said it was for a one-way journey but he didn’t say what it was all about.’

Areky said the incident happened around 30 days ago and police will try and establish whether this was for the one-way London trip which may have taken the suspect to the District Line to plant the bucket bomb.

He added: ‘One of the photographs was blurry but the other one was of him in the same hat.

‘I recognised him straight away as the same guy who came in here before and got angry over one penny.

‘I remember him saying that it was for one way but I don’t know what that was.’

The store’s manager, Deep Singh, said officers on Saturday seized Londis stores CCTV footage and recorder and returned yesterday with photographs of the suspect for further identification.

The 18-year-old Iraqi refugee, who was fostered by the couplem was said to have been in frequent trouble with the police and authorities.

His desperate foster parents were alleged to have been struggling to cope.

Detectives have yet to release the name of the teenage suspect who was detained in the departure lounge at Dover ferry terminal at the weekend and have been granted extra time to question him and the second suspect.

Today the metal barriers which had been erected at both ends of Cavendish Road, Sunbury on Thames, where the suspect is said to have lived with his foster carers Penny and Ronald Jones has been removed.

Police tape which still forms a barrier is expected to be removed later tonight but the Jones residence will remain boarded as forensic officers complete their investigations.
