Passenger killed after driver loses control and ploughs into a telegraph pole in Coopers Plains, Brisbane

A passenger has been killed after the car they were travelling in veered off the road and flipped into a telegraph pole. 

The unidentified passenger died at the scene of the crash on Kessels Road in Coopers Plains, south of Brisbane, at about 4.50am on Thursday. 

The driver was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

A QAS spokesperson said: ‘Multiple paramedics were called to a serious vehicle rollover into a pole on Riawena and Kessels Roads at 4.48am. 

‘One patient was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition, a second patient was assessed for life-threatening injuries at the scene.’

Both the driver and the passenger are yet to be identified by authorities. 

The westbound lanes at Kessel Road were closed with hour-long delays expected. 

Investigations into the crash continue.
