Passengers on a Virgin flight left starstruck after seeing Ed Sheeran flying on a commercial airline

Passengers on a Virgin flight from Ballina to Sydney are left starstruck after seeing Ed Sheeran flying on a commercial airline: ‘He’s a down-to- earth bloke!’

Ed Sheeran left fans shocked and starstruck on Monday when he was spotted catching a commercial Virgin flight from Ballina to Sydney.

The singer, 32, who is in Australia for his Mathematics Tour, was seen keeping a low profile as he caught the flight ahead of his Sydney shows this weekend at Accor Stadium.

Some fans commented underneath one social media post that the Shape of You singer was a ‘legend’ for catching the flight, rather than a private jet like a lot of celebrities.

‘He’s just a down-to-earth bloke,’ one fan commented underneath one post.

‘The nice thing is, he took a commercial flight and not a private jet. Pretty humble,’ another said.

‘I think we need to normalise this and accept celebrities using commercial flights just like us. This way we can help our environment,’ another said.

‘Can’t the man go on a plane without being posted damnnn,’ another quipped.

Ed has just finished three shows in Brisbane and will play two shows in Sydney on the weekend, before heading to Melbourne and Adelaide.

On Sunday, he was seen enjoying a relaxing and sun-soaked beach day with wife Cherry Seaborn, 30, and their two kids Lyra Antarctica, two, and Jupiter, nine months in Byron Bay.

Ed kept it casual in bright blue boardshorts and a green long-sleeved rash vest, which he wore to go for a quick dip in the ocean to cool off.

In November 2021, Ed revealed having his daughter Lyra Antarctica was a ‘blessing’ and a ‘miracle’ after struggling to conceive with his wife Cherry.

The singer told how the couple had booked doctors appointments to check everything was okay after ‘trying to have a kid for a while’.

They then welcomed their first child last August, after conceiving naturally during a holiday in 2019 to Antarctica – which inspired the unusual name.

He told US radio’s The Breakfast Club: ‘We had tried for a while to have a kid, and we’d started going to doctors and figuring out what was up. I did think it was a miracle, so that’s why I was like, we should have this in the name.’

Ed and Cherry are childhood sweethearts, having grown up together in the same town.

They rekindled their romance in 2014 and tied the knot in a small ceremony five years later.
