Passengers on Jet2 flight injured in lorry bus crash

Passengers on a flight from Scotland to Tenerife were injured when their shuttle bus was involved in a crash with a lorry at the island’s airport.

The holidaymakers had just disembarked from the Jet2 flight from Glasgow and were being ferried to the terminal building when a lorry carrying concrete pillars smashed into the side of the vehicle yesterday afternoon.

The airline said several people were taken to hospital, but no one was seriously injured.

Donna Autler and her daughter Stacy Lamb, both from Glasgow, were aboard the flight and were behind the bus that was struck by the lorry.

Miss Autler told STV: ‘The glass went everywhere and the frame of the bus was hanging down. We saw blood and the bus looked like a wreck.’

A spokesman for Jet2 said its team in Tenerife were assisting those involved in the crash.

She added: ‘We are investigating this incident as a matter or urgency with the authorities.’
