Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be WITHOUT new weapon Hollywood Brown for Week 1 clash against the Ravens

  • Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown signed a one-year deal with KC this offseason
  • But he’ll begin the season on the sideline after picking up an injury in preseason

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will be without new weapon Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown for their Week 1 clash vs. the Ravens, the team has announced.

Brown injured himself on his debut for the team in the preseason, as he suffered a left shoulder injury (officially deemed a sternoclavicular joint dislocation) against the Jaguars.

NFL reporter Jordan Schultz reported on August 13 that Brown would miss 4-6 weeks with the injury, so it’s possible that the speedy receiver could return in Week 2.

Additionally, it could be viewed as a positive that he was not placed on the team’s PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, which would have ruled him out for the first four games of the season.

The 27-year-old was hurt after catching an 11-yard pass from Mahomes over the middle and being tackled to the ground by Jaguars cornerback Montaric Brown.

Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown will miss at least the first game of the season for the Chiefs

He has not practiced this week leading up to the Chiefs’ season opener on Thursday.

Kansas City will then have ten days before facing the Bengals on September 15.

Head coach Andy Reid previously compared Brown’s injury to one that Tyreek Hill suffered against the Jaguars in 2019, as NFL.com’s Eric Edholm wrote.

Hill, now with the Dolphins, missed four games with that ailment.

Brown has missed eight games combined over the past two seasons.
