Paul Hogan won’t make another Crocodile Dundee film

Mick Dundee is once again the toast of Hollywood.

But despite the resurgence of the iconic Australian character, thanks to Tourism Australia’s recent Super Bowl ad, his creator, Paul Hogan has  refused to do a fourth Crocodile Dundee film.

Speaking on the Today show on Tuesday, the 78-year-old said the film franchise has well and truly run its course.

‘It’s not gonna happen’: Paul Hogan reveals why he won’t make another Crocodile Dundee film … despite the success of the Super Bowl ad starring Chris Hemsworth and Margot Robbie

During the interview, co-host Richard Wilkins asked Paul if he was ‘thinking about another installment of the movie franchise’ following the advert’s massive success.

‘Not really, no,’ Paul bluntly replied.

‘The first one was the most successful independent film ever made.

‘The second one did huge business, but the third one sort of died. I thought the third one was flogging a dead horse so I don’t think I will be pushing for a fourth one,’ he said.

Rumours of a possible fourth Crocodile Dundee film began swirling after Tourism Australia’s hilarious faux movie trailer aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

The advert, which cost $36 million, took the form of a fake movie trailer for a new Dundee film, and featured many of Australia’s most famous exports.

Despite Paul’s refusal to even consider a fourth film, the ad’s star Chris Hemsworth told News.com.au that that he’d be interested in turning the advert into a full-length feature film.

‘Hearing such a positive response from a fan point of view, I would definitely be open to it,’ the 34-year-old Thor star said.

Chris added that he’d need a ‘great script’ before jumping on board, but admitted he is already thinking about his upcoming schedule and if a Crocodile Dundee reboot could work or not.
