Irish actor Paul Mescal has been Down Under since December as he continues to film his new movie Carmen.

And the Normal People star was seen heading to a Sydney pub over the weekend to seemingly celebrate his 25th birthday alongside co-stars Melissa Barrera, Rossy De Palma, and the film’s director Benjamin Millepeid.

Paul and his castmates were seen adhering to New South Wales Health’s regulations by doing the required covid-safe check-ins on their phones, before entering The Rose Hotel in Chippendale.

Paul donned black jeans, a white t-shirt and a black zip-up jacket for the special occasion.

He accessorised with black and white sneakers and a New York Yankees baseball cap.

Meanwhile, his co-star Melissa Barrera opted for a casual double denim ensemble with a white blouse.

She wore her hair slicked back with a middle part and accessoried with large gold hoop earrings.

Since making his way to rural NSW to film the cinematic adaption of the popular Opera, Paul has had fans in an absolute frenzy.

In January, local Twitter users and mega-fans began documenting their casual sightings of the 25-year-old in New South Wales.

On January 13, one Twitter user tweeted: ‘Hearing reports Paul Mescal has been spotted on Tinder in Sydney. if this is you, DM me!’

While it’s unlikely the actor would be using the dating app, other responses to the Tweet gave a potential insight into Paul’s new ‘normal’ life in Australia.
