Paul Pogba poses with Manchester United legend David Beckham amid links of a £43m move to Paris Saint-Germain – where the former England captain ended his career… with fans mixed on whether the France midfielder should stay at Old Trafford

  • Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United remains unclear beyond the summer
  • France midfielder is stalling on extending his contract that expires next year
  • Paris Saint-Germain are reported to be weighing up a £43m move for him

Paul Pogba’s future at Manchester United remains uncertain beyond this summer, but that has not stopped him from hanging out with one of the club’s all-time legends.

The France international is subject to reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain, with the French giants set to be weighing up a £43million offer.

But Pogba has spent time in pre-season with former United midfielder David Beckham, sharing an image of the duo together on Twitter with the caption ‘too much sauce’ after the former England captain returned to Miami following a short break.

Pogba was all smiles as he stood beside Beckham, who also played for PSG having ended his career at the Parc des Princes in 2013 after helping them win the French league title.

Pogba has 12 months left on his current deal at Old Trafford and talks over an extension have stalled.

The Red Devils run the risk of losing the 28-year-old, who cost them a world record £89m back in 2016, for nothing next summer when his contract expires.

Pogba shone at Euro 2020 for France and is currently on a family holiday in Florida before returning to United for pre-season training.

Asked about the situation last month, he said: ‘I have one year left on my contract, everyone knows that. There have been no concrete proposals for extensions. I’m still in Manchester.’

United supporters had mixed reactions to the latest snap, with one hoping Beckham can convince him to stay at Old Trafford.

They said: ‘Well.. I’m pretty certain Mnsr Beckham would be speaking some sense to Mr Pogba… There’s not many better, been there.. Done that. Where’s his heart on his sleeve.. Bleeds United.. Ladies and gentlemen.’

Another begged for the midfielder to commit his future to the club, believing Manchester United could challenge for major honours under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer next term.

The fan stated: ‘Stay, Paul. Nobody would have blamed you for leaving a few years ago when José got the boot but we’re on the verge of something special here, and you could be a catalyst in it! You can be a legend here.’

However, not all supporters were as keen to see Pogba stand alongside Beckham who is idolised by Red Devils supporters having played a key role in helping the club win the treble in 1999, before a falling out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson led to him being sold to Real Madrid in 2003.

One fan said: ‘The funny thing about this pic is you have two players, one who never wanted to leave Old Trafford but had no choice the other can’t wait to get away again and mug us off again.’

Another believed Pogba of not being worthy of being in the same company as Beckham saying: ‘You do not deserve to stand next to our legend.’

Pogba’s continued absence away from Old Trafford left one fan confused believing it strange that despite Bruno Fernandes and Pogba being knocked out of Euro 2020 within a day of each other, only the Portugal midfielder had returned to pre-season training.

They stated: Didn’t Bruno and Pogba get knocked out the same day? One is back in training. The other has still got to report for duty.’
