Paula Badosa RETIRES from her match at Wimbledon, 12 hours after her late night watching boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas battle with Andy Murray, as back injury forces her to quit
Paula Badosa has retired from her second round match at Wimbledon against Marta Kostyuk.
It comes as she was pictured on Centre Court late last night watching her boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas battle against Andy Murray.
The 25-year-old retired in the second set of the match while trailing the Ukrainian 6-2, 1-0 with an injury.
Badosa has struggled in recent months with a back injury and had raced to be fit on time for Wimbledon, with her last appearance on court coming in May where she reached the quarter final of the Inernazionali BNL D’Italia in Rome.
The Spaniard, who made 20 unforced mistakes in the match and looked to be in a little discomfort on the course.
She is also due to play in the mixed doubles with Tsitsipas but that now looks to be in jeopardy following her withdrawal.
Tsitsipas and Murray’s clash was halted at approximately 10:40 last night, and looked to be going the distance, with Murray rallying from going a set down to win a second set tie break and claim the third going 7-6 (7-3), 6-7 (7-2), 6-4.
Badosa was snapped on Centre Court giving the Grek tennis player’s coach and father, Apostolos, a side-eye, during the titanic clash that will be resumed again today.
