  • The truck driver allegedly fled the scene after the collision
  • The motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead 

Sydney peak hour traffic has been brought to a standstill after a fatal motorcycle crash.

A motorcyclist was struck by a white truck on Abecrombie Street in Ultimo, in inner Sydney around 2.40pm on Thursday. 

The truck driver is alleged to have fled the scene after the collision, police said.

The motorcyclist was rushed the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The circumstances of the collision are still being investigated.

Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are requested to avoid the area, while vehicles are currently banked up along Parramatta Road.

Anyone who might have been in or near the Ultimo area at the time of the collision, particularly anyone who may have captured dash cam footage, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
