Pennsylvania hunter kills 600-pound bear

A Pennsylvania man killed a 600-pound black bear while out hunting.

Bo Bowser, 25, bagged one of the biggest bears killed during the state’s hunting season.

‘I would have taken a small one for my first one, but I can’t complain about a 600-pounder,’ Bowser told CBS Pittsburgh.

Bowser, who has been trying to kill a bear for 13 years, explained to the station that the bear was ‘down by a creek’ when he snuck up on him.

It took four shots to take the bear down.’If we had shot him anywhere deep in the woods, we wouldn’t have been able to get him out,’ Bowser told the station.

In order to get the bear home, Bowser said they floated the animal across the creek to the ATV and called his dad to help.

Bowser said it took about 45 minutes for five men to drag it 15 yards.

He said he gave the meat to some of his friends, but he’s still contemplating about whether or not to get the bear mounted.

The bear is currently at a taxidermist. If Bowser got it mounted, it could potentially cost around $3,000.

According to the Game Commission, the biggest bear killed this hunting season came out of Venango County at 700 pounds.
