People carry puppies instead of bouquets at their wedding

A married couple from Connecticut chose to carry puppies instead of bouquets of flowers at their wedding.

Becky Mochak and new husband John from Canaan, have fostered many animals before and when they were in the middle of planning their wedding, it just so happened their local animal shelter was looking for a foster home to take in a litter of puppies.

The animal lovers that they are, the couple fostered all of the rescue puppies just weeks before their wedding was set to take place at The Litchfield Inn in Litchfield, CT and coincidentally their wedding fell on the same date as National Dog Day so they made the bridal party carry the puppies instead of flowers.

In the midst of the pair’s wedding prep, The Little Guild animal shelter in West Cornwall posted about rescue puppies in need of a temporary home and they immediately took in the puppies.

Their wedding photographer, Rebecca Lynne shared their story on Bored Panda explaining that when the couple saw the shelter’s Facebook post, they said to each other, ‘We’ve raised baby piglets and cows before, so this can’t be much different!’

At first, they just took in two puppies from the litter, Penny and Patch, but they were just born and couldn’t be left home alone.

So, the pair had to bring them along when they ran errands for their wedding, keeping bottles in the car and putting them in a diaper bag in a shopping cart when they were in stores.

As if they didn’t have enough on their plate already, shortly after taking in the two puppies, they began fostering three more named Roley, Lucky and Freckles and Becky said, ‘It was mayhem.’

Becky and John took in five puppies from the litter and fostered them up until they each found a home, while their two other siblings had homes already but still attended the wedding.

Considering the couple loves dogs, they didn’t think twice about putting the puppies in the bridal party and the fact that their wedding ceremony just so happened to fall on National Dog Day, August 26, 2017, there was no doubt in their minds.

Becky shared on Facebook, ‘When you’re fostering puppies and your wedding happens to fall on National Dog Day, you have to include them in your pictures.’

The pictures are absolutely adorable and feature the four bridesmaids all decked out in pretty pale pink gowns with braided hairstyles each holding a puppy in awe.

Brilliant: No one in the wedding held a bouquet and instead the dogs were held by everyone which was the smartest idea because the result is the most precious set of photos

Meanwhile, the four groomsmen looked so cute holding each of the puppies and giving them kisses.

What’s even better is that all of the puppies found homes soon after their wedding day and Patch, who was renamed Mo, was adopted by John’s aunt so the couple still gets to visit him.
