People choosing to get liposuction is on the rise – and this another popular cosmetic trend

Cosmetic surgery isn’t anything new but liposuction continues to rise in popularity.

According to Australian surgeon Dr. Daniel Lanzer, he has performed 1,000 of these procedures in the last year alone and also helped with the clinical development of mega-liposuction.

This is a procedure performed on patients who are 20 to 30 kilos overweight with the goal of helping them improve their lifestyle.

Liposuction costs start at $3,000 and include the neck, breast reduction via liposuction alone, man boobs and high-definition abs.

The procedure cost starts at $3,000 and most patients have to take one week off work and two weeks off strenuous physical exercise

One of the most common questions Dr Lanzer is asked surrounding the procedure is ‘What happens to the loose skin?’.

‘By removing the fat, one creates thousands of small canals where the fat previously was,’ he explained.

‘Those canals contract and close due to a combination of the compression effect of the garment worn and the nature of the elastin and collagen in the connective tissue.

‘As a result, the fat volume is reduced and therefore the skin retracts and tightens. This is particularly seen in areas such as a sagging neck where removal of the fat alone may give a total skin retraction.’

This isn’t the only procedure where the doctor has seen a surge in requests.

Saggy skin is an unfortunate side effect of aging but there are certain cosmetic procedures that can help put it back in shape.

Now people are moving away from injectables, instead favoring a new technique called Enerjet.

This involves using powerful wind to blow in the dermal filler into the underlying skin – and it sets back customers $1,000 a session.

Once under the skin, the product can remain in place in much the same way as a regular dermal filler.

This procedure is ideal for treating large areas, more specifically over the face for full face rejuvenation and skin thickening.

‘This procedure can be used in multiple areas and is commonly used to treat aging on the back of the hands and neck,’ Dr Daniel Lanzer explained.

‘We also use it to treat stretch marks.’

They have also performed this surgery on those who were wanting to tighten their decolletage and the skin on their face as well as fix scars and acne scarring.

Patients undergoing the procedure require one treatment every month for three months which means it will cost customers at least $3,000 all up.

The area is then reviewed after 12 to 18 months to see whether more dermal fillers need to be put under the skin.

Although there haven’t been any severe complications, sometimes, the treatment can be a little painful and there may be normal bruising and swelling.

All medical procedures have risks and Dr Lanzer always recommends seeking a second medical opinion.
