People left baffled by woman’s cost-of-living radiator tea ‘hack’: ‘Stick to the kettle!’

Tea-loving Britons have been left unimpressed after a woman shared her cheap ‘hack’ for making a cup of tea – by using the radiator.

Mother-of-two Whitney Aincough, from Rotherham, South Yorkshire, revealed her trick for making the brew on social media; but she hasn’t convinced anyone with her method.

The 30-year-old filled her mug with cold water, dropped her tea bag in with four sweeteners and then rested it on the top of the radiator.

After doing so she then went over to her home heating device and cranked it up to 27 degrees.

She returned to the brew 30 minutes later and claimed it was then ready to be prepared with a splash of milk.

Whitney also suggested leaving your freshly made tea on the radiator so it can stay warm throughout the day.

Speaking in the clip she said: ‘Come make a cup of tea with me on the radiator, get your cold water, tea bag, four sweeteners and this will go on the radiator… then we will check back in a minute.

‘This is actually warm, can you see, right time to pop in some milk as you usually would… it has dissolved really good.

‘Do you know what to say that has been made on the radiator, that is really really good.

‘So when you get up in the morning, put your radiators on, get your cup on there ready, come back to it, after a half an hour you have got a cup of team made.

She continued: ‘Another hack as well, if you have a cup of tea and you want to keep it warm…put it on the radiator while you are around the house, come back and it’s still warm. Follow me for more tips.’

Despite claiming it as a hack the average cost of using a radiator for half an hour in the UK is significantly more expensive than boiling the kettle.

The average price for a UK home to use central heating for half an hour sits at £0.72 whilst a kettle would cost just £0.01 to boil.

Sarah Jane Hollinsworth stated: ‘Easier and cheaper to boil the kettle.  Some of us can’t afford to put radiators on.’

Charlotte Hargreaves said: ‘Stick with the kettle lovely.’ Gemma Caven stated: ‘My hubby would divorce me before we married if I did that.’
