Pep Guardiola has revealed Manchester City striker Erling Haaland will be out for up to seven weeks after he left Bournemouth on crutches on Sunday.

Haaland was spotted wearing a protective boot after limping out of City’s 2-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium.

City had said the Norwegian star would miss the majority of the remainder of the season with the ankle injury.

And Guardiola confirmed he would be without his star frontman for ‘five to seven weeks’.

Should the 24-year-old be absent for the next seven weeks, he could miss a potential FA Cup final but return on the last day of the Premier League campaign and be fit for the Club World Cup.

‘The doctors told me Erling Haaland will be out between five and seven weeks,’ Guardiola said on Tuesday.

‘Hopefully at the end of the season and World Cup he will be ready.

January signing Omar Marmoush, who scored City’s winner on Sunday, will lead the line in Haaland’s absence.

Marmoush, who cost £59million from Eintracht Frankfurt, has already scored five goals in eight starts for City.

‘We will find a solution from the players that we have,’ added Guardiola. ‘They all have different skills and qualities. We will have another one [striker].’

Guardiola’s side have struggled this season and sit fifth in the Premier League table ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Leicester City.

But with just two wins in their last six, the race for Champions League places is congested – with only four points separating themselves and Bournemouth in 10th.

City face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on the last weekend in April. The final is due to take place on May 17, with the last day of the Premier League season following the week after.

The champions will then head to the United States to take part in the money-spinning first edition of the revamped Club World Cup.
