Pep Guardiola suggests he is willing to extend his stay at Manchester City ahead of Liverpool clash

Pep Guardiola has indicated that he is willing to extend his contract and continue his trophy-filled tenure at Manchester City.

City face Liverpool on Sunday in a title showdown and can go four points clear with a victory, as Guardiola attempts to lift his fourth Premier League trophy since taking charge.

The Catalan has 12 months left on his contract, with a growing feeling around the club he could agree a new deal and go beyond seven seasons at the helm.

Guardiola, who called Jurgen Klopp the biggest rival he has encountered in management, remains settled in Manchester and is cutting a relaxed figure during a tense run-in.

‘I’m under contract here, I’m so happy here — I’m not staying forever but I would stay forever,’ Guardiola said. 

The 51-year-old, who shut down suggestions that Brazil want him to replace Tite in the future, joked that he will only invite Klopp for a post-match drink if City win on Sunday.

Guardiola admitted he is wary of Liverpool’s height advantage at set pieces. ‘They are a real threat from corners, they have good takers and with the movement they are there,’ he said.

‘We will see if we have to adjust something from corners. They are taller than us and we have to accept it.’

Klopp had called Guardiola the best manager in world football earlier in the day. ‘Jurgen has been the biggest rival I’ve ever had in my career,’ Guardiola said. ‘I’m not the best. I would like to tell him I’m the best, but I’m not.’
