Perisher extends season after strong falls and cold snap

Perisher ski resort has extended its season after a cold snap brought the best slope conditions in five years.

The ski season will now last until October 8 after two metres of snow fell during August and temperatures plummeted to 6°C in Sydney this week.

There is even more snow expected to fall in the coming week, cementing this season the most ideal for skiers since 2012.

Perisher, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes and Guthega are all reportedly looking superb to see through an extended ski period.

‘Perisher is looking great. We’ve had an amazing season so far and we are excited to announce that the season is extending, providing incredible skiing and boarding for guests to enjoy into October,’ Perisher’s Chief Operating Officer Peter Brulisauer said.

A bevy of entertainment options throughout September are set to ensure skiers’ trips are well worth the journey.

But the fun doesn’t have to end come October, with passes available for international snow fields available for Australians at a discounted price until September 12.

Globe trotting skiers can enjoy the fruits of an Epic Australia Pass, which allows for 10 days combined to be enjoyed between British Columbia’s Whistler Blackcomb, to Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts in Colorado.
