Personal trainer posts dramatic comparison photo of body

Melbourne personal trainer, Sophie Allen, has gained over 150,000 followers on social media after recovering from a life-threatening condition and transforming her physique to get fitter than ever.

Now, the 27-year-old has posted a raw comparison photo of her body over the past few Christmases – in order to show how far she’s come.

‘My physique has changed so much in the last four years,’ Sophie wrote on an Instagram photo – adding that she doesn’t have a snap from 2016, which is why it is missing.

‘But the biggest body comp changes have happened in the last four months since I’ve focused a lot more on my hormones, gut health & testing different training and nutrition methods,’ she said.

‘Not to mention the mental & emotional changes that have taken place too. Strong body = strong mind.’

Sophie has worked hard at her body over the past few years, sculpting the physique of her dreams via diet, fitness and a simple routine called N.E.A.T – non-exercise activity thermogenesis.

The 27-year-old has shown off the progress of her transformation on Instagram, where she has always adopted a candid approach.

‘I have cellulite too and it appears when I squeeze my butt and disappears with the simple act of slightly tilting my hips out,’ Ms Allen wrote on one comparison photo of herself earlier this year.

‘Don’t ever let Instagram take away from your achievements, cause there’s a lot of editing, tilting, posing, angles, lighting and all the rest going on.

‘We all do it, just don’t beat yourself up if you feel like you see all these celluliteless [sic] peeps out there.

‘We have to embrace and love our bodies as they are, whilst working towards our healthiest, strongest selves.’

'Activities not involving exercise/sleeping/eating etc ie walking to work, doing the dishes, taking the stairs all add up to extra cals burned in a day,' she posted

Elsewhere, the fitness personality has been incredibly honest about how she attained her figure.

By combining a healthy approach to diet and counting her macros, with the N.E.A.T regime, Sophie toned up hugely.

The simple four-letter acronym stands for non-exercise activity thermogenesis.

In understandable terms, this meant that Sophie took extra opportunities to exercise – in addition to regular workouts – through incidental activities which can make a difference.

Sophie also recently shared a series of three photos to prove that ‘healthy looks different on everyone’.

‘In the first I was very unhappy, in the second my energy was low, I managed to cut down on a low cal diet that I couldn’t stick to for too long and in the third my focus has been on eating more and lifting heavier,’ she wrote.

‘The main difference between these images is… my headspace! It’s also how I managed to change my body composition too.

‘Whilst the results came from changing my diet and exercise regime (on and off cardio & mindless eating to cardio, weights & 1450 cal to weights, HIIT & 1800+ cal) I’ve also shifted the importance of certain goals in my mind.’

Sophie first made the news in late 2016 after opening up about nearly dying during an operation when she was just 21.

‘This [my scar] is part of my story, it’s the reason I’m stronger mentally and physically,’ she told Daily Mail Australia at the time.

‘I’m so proud to have it, and I couldn’t imagine being without it.’

At 21, she went in for day surgery to treat her endometriosis but complications during the procedure left Sophie with a perforated bowel.

The condition was life threatening, and she spent a month bedridden in hospital in intense pain.

Initially doctors struggled to find the perforation and were forced to remove Ms Allen’s bowel and place it underwater so air bubbles would indicate where the hole was.

‘If my surgery had of been left any longer I would have died,’ Ms Allen said.

Following the experience, Ms Allen was able to recover and transform her body through a newfound focus on health and exercise.

Today, Ms Allen is passionate about health and fitness, and despite being told she would never have a flat stomach she now has a six pack.
