A fan said they believe they struggle with binge eating and asked Tiffiny to explain the difference between enjoying a treat and having a binge.

The question came after Tiffiny told fans to enjoy their Easter chocolate and not ‘feel guilty’, saying a treat won’t make a difference to their process, while a binge will.

In response, Tiffiny explained what categorises a binge, telling how many of the contestants she met on The Biggest Loser Australia had a binge eating disorder.

Binge eating disorder (BED) is a mental health condition characterised by a loss of control when eating and regularly eating a large quantity of food in a short period of time.

Explaining how to identify binge eating, Tiffany said: ‘Binge eating episodes are marked by loss of control completely and they have some key characteristics.

‘So you have the excessive consumption of an amount of food that is significantly larger than what you would normally eat.

‘There’s an element of emotional distress, and it’s usually used to cope with negative emotions, so binge eating is really there as a coping mechanism.’

She went on to detail her experiences with people suffering from binge eating disorders while working as a trainer on The Biggest Loser.

‘I dealt with binge eating a lot on The Biggest Loser,’ she explained.

‘A lot of my contestants had a binge eating disorder, they would drive to drive thrus, get all the fast food and then they would drive to a secret car park and they would eat and binge in the car and then dump the evidence, so no one would ever know.
