An apartment owner claims he is forced to battle to save his unit from flooding every time there is heavy rain, with mould starting to grow on the ceiling and floor.

Michael Rodrigues, 24, says his flat in Spearwood, Perth, is the only apartment in his complex which leaks water when the weather turns ugly.

To make matters worse, he claims strata company MMJ Real Estate has failed to properly fix his problem despite complaining for weeks.

‘I’m completely in the dark,’ Mr Rodrigues said.

Whenever there is heavy rain, Mr Rodrigues’ home starts to flood as water pours through the fire alarm and the light duct.

Mr Rodrigues said mould growing on the ceiling and carpet was affecting his health.

‘I can’t function properly or keep my energy high….and I’m concerned to cook,’ he said.

After heavy rainfall on Sunday, Mr Rodrigue’s home started flooding again even though a builder put in a temporary fix.

The homeowner filmed the damage caused by the flooding. In the video, he can be heard saying, ‘starting my Sunday with my apartment flooding.’

Mr Rodrigues bought his unit six months ago and is the only affected unit in the apartment complex.

The flooding issue started seven weeks ago.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted MMJ Real Estate for comment.
