Perth grandmother beaten in Armadale home invasion

A 65-year-old Perth grandmother has recalled her terrifying experience when a man invaded her Armadale home on Wednesday evening and beat her repetitively while she laid helplessly on the floor.

Mary—a Sixth Road resident, says the intruder ‘went berserk’ after he followed her home and demanded her car keys, Seven News reports.

And despite Mary handing over the keys to her silver Holden Cruz, the man entered her home, beat her to the ground and kicked her relentlessly before taking off with her handbag.

‘I walked in thinking he’d walked out but he hadn’t, he walked in here behind me, knocked me to the ground, (he) was punching me to the ground, and then was kicking me while I was laying on the ground,’ she recounted.

The victim sustained major bruising and swelling to her face and required staples for a large wound on her head.

‘It was violent, he was a very frightening man,’ she said.

Mary said she would have normally locked her wire door behind her, but she was on the phone at the time and was holding her handbag in her other hand, the West Australian reports.

She is currently recovering in hospital and says she’s surprised that there was no permanent damage done.

‘I didn’t lose any teeth and my jaw is not broken, which is a miracle because he was kicking me in the face,’ she said.

The man with the ‘wild eyes’ sped off erratically from Mary’s home and was spotted driving through the outer suburbs of Brookdale, Maddington and Kelmscott.

He then crashed the vehicle at the intersection of Brookton and Albany Highway, before making a break for it on foot.

Police have asked witnesses and people with dash cam footage of Mary’s car to contact Crime Stoppers.
