Perth radio star Kymba Cahill reveals her shock secret side hustle

Perth radio personality Kymba Cahill has revealed that beyond her on-air persona she leads a clandestine life as a marriage celebrant with a rock and roll twist.

The radio host underwent formal training to officiate weddings for her close friends, and has discreetly presided over union ceremonies on Mix 94.5 Pete & Kymba’s breakfast show recently.

‘I am a celebrant. I am an authorised marriage celebrant. I became authorised over a year ago and I have just been keeping it a secret. I did the standard legal celebrant training. I did the course and registered with the attorney general so I am ready to go,’ she told PerthNow.

This week she is set to embark on her most significant undertaking yet, assuming the role of celebrant for ‘The Wedding Perth Built’ at The Vines Resort on Thursday.

She will be joining competition winners Lizzie and Dylan in matrimony, and the  show’s audience members have decided she will officiate dressed as Elvis Presley.

But it’s not just Cahill’s role which has been selected by the audience, the ceremony’s every detail from start to finish has been determined by listener votes on Instagram, resulting in the ultimate Western Australia wedding.

Fans have chosen The Vines Resort as the wedding venue, favouring it over contenders such as Mosman Park Bowls Club and the Morley Rollerdrome.

The three-tier wedding cake is set to be provided by Arianna’s Little Bakery, and the rings will be supplied by Socklich & Co. Jewellers.

As for the bride and groom’s entrance, the fans’ pick is a quirky one, with the couple set to arrive at the ceremony on a lawn mower as their chosen mode of transportation.

Listeners voted for the groom to don Fred Durst-inspired attire (in homage to the American rapper, who happens to be the bride’s ‘hall pass’).

In contrast, they’ve playfully selected an Op Shop vintage look for the bride on the big day.

The 35-year old groom said ‘I think anyone that knows us, knows that we are a little left of field, nothing against those weddings, I just dont think it was for us.’

Meanwhile, the bride, 32, added, ‘We just decided that we will give this a go and we will trust you guys, at least we’ll know it’s going to be unique.’
