A woman will face court after she allegedly drove down a set of stairs in Perth’s city centre with her toddler in the car before attacking police officers on-foot.

The 46-year-old is believed to have been allegedly affected by drugs or alcohol when she crashed her red Honda Civic in busy waterfront complex Elizabeth Quay about 6.40pm Thursday, The West Australian reported.

She walked away from the crash scene with her child – who was less than two-years-old – still inside the car before a female officer attempted to arrest her, police said.

She then allegedly punched the officer in the head and began kicking her legs.

The officer suffered scratches to the face, as well as bruising to the face and legs, police said.

The Perth woman was eventually subdued when a second officer arrived and helped tackle her to the ground.

Police charged the woman with assaulting a public officer, and she was due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday.
