A pervert was arrested after he offered an 11-year-old girl candy and a wine cooler if she would lift her shirt and let him touch her.
Jesse Christiansen, 35, of Barnegat, Ocean County, was charged with attempted sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.
The girl refused and told her mother, who then reported Christiansen to the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department at around 9 p.m on Wednesday September 13.
Police investigated and took Christiansen into custody the next day.
They subsequently discovered a warrant was already out for his arrest relating to a shoplifting charge.
William Hetrick, a detective with Barnegat police, and Stephanie Bayha, a detective with the Special Victims Unit at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, investigated the incident following the disturbing complaint.
The pair arrested Christiansen the day after the report was called in, according to the prosecutor’s office.
A statement shared on Facebook by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said: ‘Just after 9 pm on September 13, 2017, the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department Radio Room received a call of an attempted sexual assault involving an 11-year-old female.
‘The subsequent investigation by Barnegat Police Det. William Hetrick and Ocean County Prosecutor Special Victims Det. Stephanie Bayha alleges Christiansen offered the victim candy and a wine cooler if she would lift her shirt and allow him to touch her in an inappropriate manner.
‘The victim did not comply and reported the defendant’s actions to her mother.
Senior Assistant Prosecutor Christine Lento reviewed the investigation and approved the above charges. On 09-14-2017, the partnering detectives arrested Christiansen. He is being held on the above charges and on an outstanding warrant for shoplifting.
