Two feisty pugs have been hailed heroes after saving both their and their neighbours home from being robbed by an alleged serial thief.
Frantic barking from Charlie and Archie alerted their owners to an intruder lurking behind their Kings Langley home around 5am Friday morning, Seven News reports.
A quick check of security cameras by Chris and Keryn Speck revealed their stout canines chasing a man who was allegedly trying to break through their window just minutes earlier.
Two Kings Langley homes came under attack early Friday morning, but police arrived right on time thanks to two feisty pugs named Charlie and Archie
Chris and Keryn Speck checked security camera vision and saw their the stout canines chasing a man who was allegedly trying to break through their window just minutes earlier
‘It’s a bit scary really, and I’m just really lucky we’ve got the dogs,’ Ms Speck said.
‘I won’t ever tell the dogs to stop barking again.’
They called police but shortly after heard screams coming from their neighbour’s home and feared the worst.
As they scaled the fence to check on their friend, they discovered help had already arrived in the form of yet another fearless hound.
‘[We climbed] straight over the fence to find the police dog and the police tackling the guy,’ Mr Speck recalled.
The offender (pictured) had been caught by a police dog by the time the Specks arrived
The offender, who investigators believe was on drugs at the time, got away with nothing except a dog bite on his left arm.
‘The alleged suspect tried to escape, the dog was deployed and the dog took hold of the suspect’s hand,’ Detective Inspector Gavin Rattenbury said.
Police believe the man is responsible for four other break-ins in the area. He is now set to face several charges.
He was taken to Riverstone Police Station where it’s understood he spent the day sobering up.
