Peter Crouch has claimed there is a clear weakness in Spurs goalkeeper Vicario’s game that teams could look to exploit.

Following his transfer from Empoli in the summer, the 27-year-old has been hugely impressive for the Lilywhites.

However, after being targeted by Manchester City from a corner, Everton managed to sneak an equaliser by dominating set pieces today.

Speaking to TNT Sports, former Spurs player Crouch said: ‘I think it’s almost like a chink in his armor. I think he’s been amazing since he’s been at the club, but that seems to be an issue.

‘You know, he dropped it against Manchester City. I thought at Brentford at times, he had a slight issue with that.

The Tottenham goalkeeper endured a very difficult afternoon at Goodison Park

‘And again, today, he just couldn’t handle it when Harrison backed into him, for whatever reason. It wasn’t done in the second half, because I think they let them off, it was definitely an issue for him.’

Meanwhile, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford enjoyed a much better game and Crouch was quick to praise him.

‘He kept them in it. I mean, a lot of these shots are from distance but he still had to make the saves and he did them very well.

‘He had a terrific save against Richarlison and you know what they have that foundation that then that allows Branthwaite to go and get the point but without those saves then they’re not in it.’

Joe Cole similarly added: ‘I would never say this to a goalkeepers face but I think it’s the most important position on the pitche and he’s an outstanding goalkeeper.

‘I think that’s one of the differences which I I think Everton will be absolutely fine this year because they’ve got players like Pickford who can produce performances like that.’
