However, Crouch insisted major changes to Liverpool’s wage structure could be detrimental
Former Liverpool striker Crouch says that it is important to keep everybody in line, especially with the club having other significant players at their disposal such as Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.
Speaking on BT Sport, Crouch said: ‘You give him what he wants, Van Dijk’s almost as important, Alisson, where does it end? It then becomes a problem.
‘We all want to keep Mohamed Salah 100 per cent but he has to fall in line with what they’re prepared to pay.
‘You can make him the highest paid but not beyond the structure that you’ve got. Liverpool as a football club will always be bigger than any individual.
;I think there have been times when Liverpool have sold players and you thought it was unthinkable that they would do that and they always recovered. (Luis) Suarez was one of the highest paid.
‘Salah can say that he wants to be the highest paid player. He’s been that good.’
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Salah expects the club to be amibitious
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stated that talks over a new deal are ongoing and added that Salah expects the club to be ambitious.
Klopp said: ‘I understand these questions but the club is in talks with all the agents and all the people. Until then it makes no sense.
‘The Mo question, nothing new happened, everything is fine. Mo is giving absolutely everything to the club. The club is in talks with all the agents and that is how it should be.
‘Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious, we were in the last few years and we are. From my point of view, it is exactly like it should be at this time.’
Following Klopp’s comments, Salah’s agent Ramy Abbas Issa posted a tweet that included seven laughing emojis.
Liverpool will be determined to keep Salah, who has established himself as one of the standout stars in world football.
This season Salah has scored 27 goals in 34 appearances for Liverpool, while he has provided ten assists.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017 Salah has won the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.
