Sgt Kelly Bragg of GMP’s Oldham Borough, said: ‘As the hours have gone on and we’ve not heard from Mr Metcalfe, we are becoming really worried about him.
‘Since he was last seen, we have found his dog, which will mean that he is on his own.
‘If you see Peter or know where he is, please get in contact with us. We believe he may not be very well and may need medical attention so it’s really important we find him as soon as possible.’
Mr Metcalfe is white with grey hair. He was last seen wearing jeans and a white t-shirt with an image of Steve McQueen on it.
