Peter Spellos from American Dreams and Transformers: Robots in Disguise dies following battle with pancreatic cancer at age 69

Actor Peter Spellos, best known to many as Gus on American Dreams has died.

He was 69.

The veteran actor lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, according to TMZ. 

Spellos’ friend and acting student, Jennifer Smith reported the Jail Breakers actor died surrounded by loved ones Sunday morning at the Franciscan Hospice House in Indianapolis.

‘He was loved and cared for and surrounded by people during his final days,’ she told the outlet.

Spellos was born in Queens, NY March 1, 1954.

Not much is known about his early years, but he began working in film in television in 1972, providing voiceover work for international animated shows such as Panda! Go Panda! and  Mobile Suit Gundam I.

He got his first on screen role in 1990’s Sorority House Massacre II.

The New York native would go on to have small parts in films such as Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare and Bad Love. 

Spellos also made ends meet working as a crew member on various projects in the late 1990s. 

The journeyman actor got regular work in the drama American Dreams.

The show focused on the experiences of the Pryor family as they lived through the turbulent 1960s. 

He starred as Gus, a witty production assistant on American Bandstand.

The show ran from 2000-2005. 

At the same time, Spellos increased his fan base voicing the character of Sky-Byte in the 2000’s Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon series for 39 episodes.

The role made him extremely popular on the Comic-Con circuit.
