Peter Stefanovic steps out with his wife Sylvia Jeffreys and their young sons at Bronte Beach after copping backlash for interview with Indigenous teen

Peter Stefanovic enjoyed a fun day out with his wife Sylvia Jeffreys and their young sons in Bronte Beach on Sunday.

The Sky News host, 42, rugged up in a beige denim jacket and buttoned shirt as he went for a stroll with Sylvia, 38, and children Oscar, four, and Henry, three.

He completed his ensemble with beige chinos and wore comfortable green Adidas trainers for the outing.

Peter kept a low profile in dark sunglasses as he walked through a park with Sylvia and a friend.

His wife Sylvia was also protected against the chilly elements in a long beige wool coat over a lilac-coloured jumper and black tights.

She wore dark sunglasses and a pair of comfortable white trainers.

The pair appeared to be relaxed and happy as they watched sons Oscar and Henry play in the park.

Despite Sydney’s chilly weather, Peter eventually went for a swim in the ocean with his son.

Hitting the water, Peter wore a pair of orange board shorts and showed off his biceps.

It appeared the water may have been a touch too cold for the Sky News presenter who offered a pained expression as he stood on the shore with son Oscar.

Having had enough of the surf, Peter wrapped a blue and white towel around his waist and donned a brown hoodie.

The sighting comes after Peter recently copped public backlash over a shock interview.

In May, Peter revealed he ‘regrets’ ruining a teenage fishing champion’s big moment and made an apology on live TV following backlash.

Keegan Payne, 19, made headlines across Australia at the time after he hooked a barramundi worth $1million in Katherine, 317km south of Darwin.

His prize catch was part of the Million Dollar Fish angling competition aimed to boost Northern Territory tourism.

However, his celebrations were cut short during a harsh interview with Peter.

The breakfast host asked point-blank if there was any truth to rumours Keegan and a friend had once stolen an off-road vehicle and a quad bike from his former employer, Bob Cavanagh.

Keegan said the allegation was true – and offered a sincere apology to his old boss in the excruciating exchange.

The segment sparked outrage among viewers who demanded Peter resign for trying to turn a feel-good story into a scandal.

Following the incident Peter made an apology to Keegan on live TV.

‘An apology from me, last Wednesday we invited Keegan Payne onto our show to discuss his win in the Million Dollar Fish competition in the Northern Territory,’ Stefanovic said during First Edition on Sky News.

‘During that interview I asked him about a theft that had occurred several years earlier. I should not have asked him about those claims and I regret doing so.’

Peter deleted all his social media accounts in the wake of the furore.

Meanwhile, a petition also calling for him to resign attracted more than 3,500 signatures.

Sky News was also forced to issue an apology, with the network revealing that Peter had personally said sorry to Mr Payne and his family.
