Judy, a retired biology professor, feared the chicks and their parents would become the bear’s dinner after seeing it approach them when they headed into woodland to hunt for food.

The video starts with the bear swimming through the water before reaching the woodland.

After it leaves the water, the sandhill begins to chase it towards a tree with its wings outstretched.

The petrified bear then hides behind the tree before darting away.

The footage also shows the bear climbing up a tree to evade the angry sandhill before jumping down and running away from the bird.

The video also shows the family of sandhills blissfully paddling through the lake.

It also shows the protective male crane carefully watching a black bird, seemingly fearing it might attack its chicks.
