The former hedge fund manager and drug company executive, 34, put the only copy of Once Upon a Time in Shaolin on on eBay for $1. The price has reached $70,000 with nine days of bidding to go.

Shkreli, who was branded America’s most hated man for wacking up the price of AIDS treatment drugs from $13.50 to $750, claimed he would give half the proceeds from the auction to medical research.

He posted on the site on Monday: ‘The Clinton Foundation is willing to KILL to protect its secrets. So on HRC’s book tour, try to grab a hair from her.

‘I must confirm the sequences I have. Will pay $5,000 per hair obtained from Hillary Clinton. Payment after the sequence matches. Good luck, patrollers.’
