Phil Foden has warned England’s rivals that his attacking partnership with Jude Bellingham is about to explode.

The Premier League’s player of the year and Bellingham have arrived in Germany as two of Europe’s most feared attacking talents.

But while Bellingham scored the winner in England’s win over Serbia on Sunday night, Foden was less impactful.

But, the Manchester City star insists his on-field alliance with Bellingham will get better.

‘Jude’s obviously an exceptional talent. He carries himself really well, I think he’s turning into a leader,’ said Foden.

‘I think our link up play is good at times and I think it’s improving as well and can keep getting better.

‘So he’s an exciting talent and I enjoy playing with him. I think the first game of a major tournament is always the most difficult.

‘I think it’s important to get off to a win and we did that.

‘It was difficult at times. Obviously, we had to defend at times and dig deep, but I think that shows a different side to us and if we’re going to win something I think that we have to do that.’

Foden has faced some criticism after his performances against Serbia, with the six-time Premier League champion struggling in a position that many believe is out of position.

Under Pep Guardiola, the England star plays his best football in a more central attacking position alongside Kevin de Bruyne, while under Southgate’s guidance is more regularly played on the wing.

His best season yet at the Etihad saw him score 27 goals and register 13 assists in all competitions, on national team duty Foden has managed just four goals in 35 caps.
