Philippines restaurant makes burgers look like Lego pieces

What if you could have your burger, and play with it too?

So seems to be the motto at Brick Burger in the Philippines, where each of the burgers – and even some desserts – are shaped to look like LEGO pieces.

The beloved childhood toy is honoured throughout the Pasig City restaurant, from the set pieces inside the tables to the signs that read ‘Eat Calm and Eat Bricks’.

Brick Burger in the Philippines serves 12 different type of hamburgers shaped like LEGO pieces

And the flavours are as unconventional as their buns, with names like the Dark Burger and Nacho Tuesday that pay homage to characters and jokes in The LEGO Movie

Customers are even given LEGO sets to play with while they chow down on their bricks.

There are 12 different burgers on the menu, created in the bright reds and yellows that once scattered in pieces across our living room floors and hurt our parents’ feet.

And the flavours are hardly conventional, with names like the Darth Burger and Nacho Tuesday that pay homage to characters and jokes from The LEGO Movie.

The Darth Burger is done with a black brick bun and topped with carmelised onions, mushrooms, bacon, and garlic sauce.

Toppings get even wilder on Nacho Tuesday, which features nacho chips inside, and the Cheesy Mac, topped with mac and cheese as well as bacon.

The Hulk Buster and Lord Business feature double or triple patties, respectively, while the Benny comes topped with an egg.

And there’s more than just burgers at the restaurant, despite its name.

Brick Burger also offers four different types of wings and pasta plates, two types of hot dogs, and sides that range from rice to nacho fries and Salisbury steak.

You can top a big meal off with a refreshing ice cream sundae for dessert, complete with a little LEGO man and brick on top.

Those who are brave, or just have a big appetite, can even attempt the ‘Lord Business Challenge’.

Whoever finishes the triple patty cheeseburger – topped with bacon – in three minutes or less can win their very own LEGO set to take home.

The record is currently held by Rix ‘Terabite’ Francisco, who finished off the mammoth burger in just one minute and 16 seconds.

Although Brick Burger has no affiliation with the brand, The LEGO Group does seem to know it exists.

When a picture of the restaurant’s burgers was recently posted on Twitter, the toy company’s official account responded with a surprised emoji.

That no doubt brought some joy to Ralph Abogado, head of Brick Burger’s marketing, who called Lego a ‘right of passage’ for children.

‘It’s one of the most recognisable toys in the world, and I think almost everyone is familiar with it,’ he said in a recent interview.

‘It’s one of the first toys we play with.’
