Phoebe Burgess vows to never date again after her messy split with NRL star ex-husband Sam Burgess

Former NRL WAG-turned-influencer Phoebe Burgess says she has no interest in dating again following her split with former Rabbitohs player, Sam Burgess.

In an in-depth chat with Vogue Australia, the mother-of-two, 33, said she’s ‘content’ with being a single mother and joked that she wouldn’t have the most appealing Tinder profile.

‘What am I going to put on my Tinder profile? ”Sleeps in same bed as daughter. Lives with parents. Enormous public baggage!” she said with a laugh.

‘I don’t know why, but people seem to want me to enter a new phase, but I’m content here for the moment.’

Phoebe added that she’ll never go back to using her maiden name Hooke because to her ‘Phoebe Hooke no longer exists’.

‘I feel as if I walked through fire. I’m a different person now. I can’t go back – that girl, Phoebe Hooke no longer exists,’ Phoebe said.

Phoebe shares son Billy, three, and daughter Poppy, five, with Sam.

The couple split for the second time in October 2019, just months after they had rekindled their marriage.

Phoebe partly blamed their marriage breakdown on the NRL, claiming the clubs did little to help her then-husband.

‘He wasn’t looked after,’ Phoebe told The Weekend Australian.

‘He wasn’t protected in the right way, in the way that may have – not saved our marriage, but it might have led to a true rehabilitation, a true sense of responsibility, owning behaviour, wanting to change that behaviour.’

Phoebe said she tried to put on a brave face through the difficult times, but claims she was the victim of taunts and jeers while pregnant with her second child Billy and watching Sam play at Stadium Australia.

‘I was heckled by the crowd, drunk people asking me if I wanted to FaceTime, and asking me where my husband was and, you know, was it his baby? It was demeaning and humiliating,’ she said.

Sam later admitted to infidelity, which occurred while he was away captaining England in the Rugby League World Cup, during a confessional on the latest season of the reality show, SAS Australia.

‘I don’t think I was the greatest husband at times. I embarrassed my wife. I had an affair with a girl, a woman in Melbourne. That’s true,’ he said tearfully.

‘I was away on tour, and regretfully that happened. Which would have been… it would have been a tough place for Phoebe to be.’

While pregnant with their son Billy in late 2018, Phoebe said she underwent multiple tests for sexually transmitted infections as a result of Sam’s cheating.

She claimed that during the pregnancy, she also suffered through Sam’s ‘substance- induced screaming rages’.

In October, police cleared Sam of any wrongdoing after a year-long investigation sparked by allegations of domestic abuse made by Phoebe.

The allegations were originally published in The Australian newspaper and denied vehemently by Burgess at the time.
