The first two hours are free but if you plan on staying longer you will have to pay a hefty $77 parking fee.

City parking spaces are always held at a premium however a new council sign lead to one Reddit user posting a picture of fees asked of people parking over two hours

There is no stipulation on the length of stay after two hours – simply parking for two hours or more requires a $77 parking fee.

The rapid fee hike led to Reddit users sharing their opinions.

The car park looks to have no more than two dozen parking spots and is located at a corner commercial building.

According to the Brisbane City Council website parking meter fees are broken down into three categories, zone one, two and three.

Zone one is for parking in Brisbane’s CBD, zone two covers the city fringe and zone three encapsulates the rest of Brisbane.

Zone one meters require $4.90 for parking up to three hours, zone two requires $3 and zone three $1.70.
