A mother has paid tribute to her ‘happy and courageous’ one-year-old daughter who was run over and killed in her own driveway.

Izabella Gayle Ann Smith died on Sunday after being hit by her family’s silver Toyota Prado in Tailem Bend, an hour south-east of Adelaide.

Her father Kyle Smith, 25, and mother Jasmine, 24, were helping a friend move house when the car stuck the toddler.

They rushed her to hospital but she could not survive her injuries.

Mrs Smith paid tribute to the youngster on Monday morning, describing her as ‘adventurous, mischievous and determined’.

She told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Izabella was loving and adventurous, beautiful and a little bit crazy but she was always happy to give kisses and cuddles.

‘She was a happy and courageous child and will be dearly missed’.

Mrs Smith said she did not want to explain how the accident happened.

Only a week ago another toddler was run over in a backyard in Adelaide’s north by a Toyota Prado Landcruiser 4WD.

The two-year-old boy could not be saved by paramedics and died at the scene.

Last year safety experts called for Australia to follow the US and make reversing cameras on cars mandatory.
