A young couple have been charged after an eight-hour stand off with police, where they were seen kissing and taking selfies while negotiators tried to coax them down.  

Billy Baker and Tayla Gray, from Townsville, allegedly fled to the roof of the Goleby’s Basement pub on Brisbane Street, Ipswich just before 11am on Friday.  

Officers told Daily Mail Australia that Baker was already wanted on an outstanding warrant. 

Baker’s mother lives in the building, and it’s understood he and Gray fled to the roof when police arrived searching for him.

Gray, a 21-year-old bartender, allegedly said ‘f**k the dogs’ while police attempted to negotiate with them.

Helicopter footage showed the couple walking along the roof and writing on the walls.

They were also filmed atop an air conditioning vent hugging and kissing while the helicopter circled them. 

At one point Gray was seen standing on the edge of the roof while Baker rested his leg on the ledge. 

Officers managed to get close to the couple by standing at the top of a rear staircase in an adjoining building.

Baker was seen only feet from the officers and talking with them before walking back towards his partner and lighting a cigarette.  

It wasn’t until around 7.40pm that the duo, now being dubbed ‘Bonnie and Clyde,’ were finally talked into surrendering, 9 News reported.  

Baker, 23, was charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police and breach of bail conditions. 

He is allegedly linked to several luxury car thefts and his accomplice Frank Ryder was charged with a string of property offences on Friday.  

Gray was charged with unregulated high-risk activities, obstructing police, committing a public nuisance and wilful damage. 

The pair will appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on June 24.
