At least eight people are still missing and experts claim their is not much hope for them after the rockfall on August 23.

Much of the damage to the town came from the mudslide which followed the avalanche, with footage from the scene showing a cascade of mud stretching more than three miles decimating the small town near the Italian border.

It comes after more than 220 people living in the ski resort in Switzerland were forced to evacuate after a massive mudslide buried the village of Saas-Fee.

Residents were allowed to return and a road had now reopened, although hiking trails remain closed, a police statement said.
