Police confirmed that that the couple was driving home following their son’s burial.

While the couple was wearing seat belts, the decades-old car only had lap belts, whereas more modern cars have lap belts in addition to shoulder restraints that minimize the chances of death in case of an accident.

The vehicle also was not equipped with airbags.

Police say the car showed no signs of braking. An investigation is ongoing.

The couple was then rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.

‘They were amazing people,’ said a relative, 27-year-old Amber Phillips.

‘I just can’t name one person they did not help in some way.’

Phillips said that two years ago, Greg Sanders, the father of her youngest child was killed in a homicide.

Sanders was Cameo Sanders’ nephew. After his death, Phillips says that Cameo Sanders came to her aid.

‘She was there for us, physically and emotionally,’ Phillips said.

‘She was a mentor, a friend, and she was even my realtor – she helped me buy my home.’

Both husband and wife worked in real estate.

Troy Jenkins worked for a property management company while his wife was a broker.

‘She had a spark to her, and nobody pushed her around and nobody ran over her,’ said a former colleague, Daniel Miller.

‘But she would also help anybody – her family, her friends – she was there for everyone.’
